Description

[Machine Translation] This is the 63rd NHK Taiga Drama, a love story of a woman who survived the ever-changing world with her own talent and efforts. The script was written by Shizuka Oishi, who has worked on such TV series as futari ko (futari kids) and Audrey, as well as the historical dramas Koumeigatsuji and Second Virgin, and continues to lead the way in writing scripts that depict women's lives and love. This film depicts the life of Murasaki Shikibu, the author of "The Tale of Genji" which has been read for over a thousand years. The main character, Murasaki Shikibu, is played by Yoshitaka Yuriko as Mahiro. She portrays the passion and strong, flexible way of life of Mahiro, a woman who cannot help but write. Tasuku Emoto co-stars as Fujiwara no Michinaga, a man of destiny whom Mahiro meets and who later becomes the most powerful man in Japan. The film also features a superb cast including Hana Kuroki, Arata Iura, Yo Yoshida, Yusuke Santamaria, Kuranosuke Sasaki, Goro Kishitani, and Yasunori Danta. --The main character, Murasaki Shikibu/Mahiro (Yoshitaka Yuriko), is a woman who wrote the bestseller "The Tale of Genji" in the Heian period (794-1185), which transcended the millennium. She spins the story of Hikaru Genji (Prince Hikaru) with her love for Fujiwara no Michinaga (Tasuku Emoto), her hidden passion, and her unrivaled imagination.
