Description

[Machine Translation] Yukio Mishima's "The Sea of Fertility" became a topic of great interest when it was completed with his suicide at the Self-Defense Forces in 1970, which also became a social event. 三島由紀夫『豊饒の海』は社会的事件ともなった一九七〇年の自衛隊での自決とともに完結した作品として大きな話題となったが全四巻の大著ということもあり充分な読み解きがなされているとは言いがたい。本書は『豊饒の海』を、作品の重要な背景でもある高度経済成長を経て、長い不況に陥り、さらには東日本大震災と原発事故を経験した二一世紀の日本を見通していた予見的な作品と考えるという一点を基調にして読み直すことを試みる。この大作で終局に示される「虚無の極北」は、現代社会すべての人々の深層に共通する感覚と言っても良いだろう。その状況を越え目の前に現前している世界とは別の「もう一つの日本」を探すための水先案内に三島文学はなるのだろうか。

HD DVD

HD DVDs titles are playable only on HD DVD players. They are not playalbe on conventional DVD players or Blu-ray players. On the other hand, Twin Format disc has a layer that is playable also on conventional DVD players. Such titles are indicated as "Format: HD DVD Twin Format" in item details page. *We'll add accurate information on regional encoding as they become available, but for the time-being, please assume that HD DVD titles available at CDJapan are encoded for Region-2.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.

SACD (Super Audio CD)

SACDs are playable only on SACD players, and will not play on regular CD players. On the other hand, SACD Hybrid disc has a layer that is playable also on regular CD payers. Such titles are indicated as "Format: SACD-Hybrid" in item details page.
