Description

[Machine Translation] Oliver Twist" : Winner of the Best Art Direction Award at the 1948 Venice International Film Festival, this film is an adaptation of the novel by Charles Dickens, which has been made into several films. 「オリバー・ツイスト」: 1948年度のヴェネチア国際映画祭において、美術賞を受賞した作品。過去にも何度か映画化されているチャールズ・ディケンズの小説の映画化である。孤児として育ったオリバーは、子供を使って悪事を重ねる悪党に利用されていたが、富豪の老人に救われ、その家で幸福な生活を送れるようになった。しかし、悪党たちは、オリバーをそのままにはしておかず、オリバーを連れ出す計画を立てるのだった。名優アレック・ギネスとロバート・ニュートンが悪党を演じており、スリル満点の映画に花を添えると共に、イギリスで製作された映画らしく、古いロンドンの街並みも雰囲気を盛り上げている。(1947・英国) 「ジャンヌ・ダーク」: 1948年度のアカデミー賞において、撮影賞と衣装デザイン賞を受賞した作品。イングリッド・バーグマン自身が演じたいと希望していた役ということもあって、当時としては破格の460万ドルの製作費を費やした2時間30分の超大作だが、通常は100分のカット版が普及している。15世紀、祖国フランスを滅亡の危機から救いながらも、国王や貴族から疎まれ、神への信仰を棄てなかった為、教会から火あぶりの刑に処せられた悲劇のヒロインの物語。

HD DVD

HD DVDs titles are playable only on HD DVD players. They are not playalbe on conventional DVD players or Blu-ray players. On the other hand, Twin Format disc has a layer that is playable also on conventional DVD players. Such titles are indicated as "Format: HD DVD Twin Format" in item details page. *We'll add accurate information on regional encoding as they become available, but for the time-being, please assume that HD DVD titles available at CDJapan are encoded for Region-2.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.

SACD (Super Audio CD)

SACDs are playable only on SACD players, and will not play on regular CD players. On the other hand, SACD Hybrid disc has a layer that is playable also on regular CD payers. Such titles are indicated as "Format: SACD-Hybrid" in item details page.
