The film vividly reveals John's life through the testimonies of those who were truly close to him, including his trusted producer Jack Douglas, the musicians with whom he worked, and his friend and cameraman Bob Groen. John, who was fed up with the turmoil over the Beatles' breakup and the Yoko-bashing that occurred through peace activities such as John and Yoko's bedding-in, moved to New York, a city that reminded him somewhat of his hometown of Liverpool. The country is in the middle of the Vietnam War, and an anti-war movement that repeatedly clashes violently spreads, and John is caught up in the movement. John's actions, which had a great influence on the youth, provoked the government to order his deportation and a lengthy court battle ensued. Later, John and his friends supported the presidential candidate who lost the election, which was a political setback for John and his friends. Never before has a film followed the life of a solo John in such detail and in its entirety.
