Description

[Machine Translation] This is a film directed by John Cassavetes, a master filmmaker who has recently been attracting renewed attention. Following his critically acclaimed first film, Shadows of America ('59), this is a coming-of-age music film produced by a major Hollywood studio. To compete with the Nouvelle Vague and the British New Wave, which were at the height of their popularity at the time, the studio hired Cassavetes, an up-and-coming filmmaker, to make a film for the Beat Generation. The film depicts the anguish and frustration of youth with vivid and realistic strokes. The main character, a jazz musician, is played by Bobby Darin, a singer and actor known for hit songs such as "Beyond the Sea. He also performs in the film, giving the audience a realistic live performance. This is a rare masterpiece that has rarely been screened as a special feature film. Long-awaited first soft release in Japan. --A young musician, Ghost, leads a jazz band that is recognized for its talent, but it never sells, and he accepts low-paying jobs. One day, Ghost meets Jess, a fledgling singer, at a party. The two hit it off and fall in love, partly due to their own circumstances. Ghost welcomes Jess into the band as the lead singer. HD DVD

HD DVDs titles are playable only on HD DVD players. They are not playalbe on conventional DVD players or Blu-ray players. On the other hand, Twin Format disc has a layer that is playable also on conventional DVD players. Such titles are indicated as "Format: HD DVD Twin Format" in item details page. *We'll add accurate information on regional encoding as they become available, but for the time-being, please assume that HD DVD titles available at CDJapan are encoded for Region-2.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.

SACD (Super Audio CD)

SACDs are playable only on SACD players, and will not play on regular CD players. On the other hand, SACD Hybrid disc has a layer that is playable also on regular CD payers. Such titles are indicated as "Format: SACD-Hybrid" in item details page.
