Miyabi Kawauchi ( Hana Sugisaki ), a neurosurgeon with a memory disorder, wonders if she can face her patients as a doctor once again. When she goes to bed and wakes up, her memory of the previous day is gone. She wakes up at 5 a.m. every morning, reads the diary on her desk, and begins her day by trying to remember her lost memories. Currently, while being treated by Koichi Osako (Arata Iura), a professor of neurosurgery at Kanto Medical University Hospital, she works at Hillside Central Hospital, where she was trained before losing her memory, but she does not perform any medical treatment and works as a nursing assistant. One day, Tomoji Sanpei ( Tatsuya Wakaba ), a neurosurgeon returning from the U.S., is newly appointed to the hospital, and while Miyabi is showing him around, an urgent patient is brought in. The patient is Rena Akamine, an actress, and tests reveal that she has a cerebral infarction. With the consent of her husband and manager, Hirotsugu Emoto, treatment is immediately scheduled, and Miyabi instructs Miyabi to help, but Reiko Tsubata (Michiko Kichise), the head nurse, restrains her. After the treatment, Sanbei is told by Kota Hoshimae ( Yudai Chiba ), the head of the emergency department, that Miyabi has a memory disorder. After undergoing treatment, Rena wakes up, but is barely able to speak, and is diagnosed with aphasia due to the aftereffects. Miyabi is conflicted by her inability to do anything while witnessing her hopeless situation as an actress. Knowing that Miyabi has a memory impairment, Sanbei tells her, "We are short on staff, so you have to do what you can" and asks the director, Toshiyuki Todo (Junpei Yasui), to let Miyabi examine and diagnose her as a doctor.
