Description

[Machine Translation] Day and night in the square in front of the station. A guide to life in the city, depicted with a fresh smile and a sense of sorrow. --A police box located in front of the Kokuden station. The police box is located in front of the Kokuden station, where, just like the bustle of the station, various disturbances are brought in on a daily basis. On duty are four policemen: Officer Wakui, a good-natured man with a weakness for beautiful women; Hanazono, a handsome man with excellent grades who is popular with the ladies; Tanigawa, a serious and naive rookie; and Otsubo, a 30-year veteran of the force. One day, a daughter named Yuri comes to visit Wakui. She tells him that she is from his hometown and that she is going to work in Shimbashi. However, upon their first meeting, Wakui was indifferent. One night, while making his rounds, Wakui meets Yuri again among the prostitutes under guard. She says that she came to work for her family because of a bad harvest in her hometown, and Wakui gently tells her that she should return home as soon as possible. Yuri comes to Wakui for any kind of trouble. Wakui is secretly in love with a certain young lady, but... One day, prostitutes accompanied by a newspaper reporter appear at the police box. The reporter had taken their picture without their permission, and they were angry about it. Yuri suggested that the police station should solve the problem at a time like this. Otsubo puts it all behind him and suggests to the reporter a story about a boy selling newspapers who is looking for his father. Otsubo is worried about his only son, who has run away from home.

駅前広場の昼と夜 爽やかな微笑と哀感を漂わせて描く都会の人生案内。――国電駅前に位置する交番。駅の喧騒そのままに、この交番へは日々様々な騒動が持ち込まれる。勤務するのは、お人好しで美人に弱い和久井巡査、女性に人気の二枚目で成績も優秀な花園、真面目で純朴な新人・谷川、そして勤続30年のベテラン・大坪という四人の警官。ある日、ユリという娘が和久井を訪ねて来た。同郷だと親しげに話す彼女は、これから新橋で働くのだと言う。しかし初対面の和久井はそっけない態度だった。ある夜、巡回していた和久井はガード下の娼婦たちの中にいたユリと再会する。故郷が凶作で家の為に出稼ぎに出てきたと言う彼女に、早く帰郷した方が良いと優しく諭す和久井。それからユリは、何かにつけて和久井の元にやって来るようになる。その和久井はある令嬢に密かな恋心を抱いていたが・・・。交番にある日、新聞記者を連れた娼婦たちが現れる。記者が無断で写真を撮り、彼女たちはそれに憤っていたのだ。袋叩きにする勢いの皆に、こんな時こそ交番で解決しようとユリが提案したらしい。大坪はこれをうまく収め、記者に「父を探す新聞売りの少年」のネタを提案する。そんな大坪は、家出した一人息子の身を案じていた。

There are 6 region codes. Typically, DVD players sold in one region is compatible only with DVD titles that are encoded for that region.

There are a few DVD titles that are playable in all regions. Such titles are indicated as "Region Code: ALL" under "Edition Details" in item pages. If the indication is missing, then it must be assumed that the title is encoded for Region 2. *Please note that opened items are not eligible for returns, unless there is a manufacturer defect. So please make sure that your DVD player can play region 2 DVDs before completing your order (see Returns Policy).

HD DVD

HD DVDs titles are playable only on HD DVD players. They are not playalbe on conventional DVD players or Blu-ray players. On the other hand, Twin Format disc has a layer that is playable also on conventional DVD players. Such titles are indicated as "Format: HD DVD Twin Format" in item details page. *We'll add accurate information on regional encoding as they become available, but for the time-being, please assume that HD DVD titles available at CDJapan are encoded for Region-2.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.

DVD-Audio

DVD-Audios are playable only on DVD-Audio players and DVD players that are compatible with DVD-Audios (to find out for sure, consult the manual of your DVD player, or look for DVD-Audio logo). DVD-Audios are not playable on regular DVD players or CD players.

SACD (Super Audio CD)

SACDs are playable only on SACD players, and will not play on regular CD players. On the other hand, SACD Hybrid disc has a layer that is playable also on regular CD payers. Such titles are indicated as "Format: SACD-Hybrid" in item details page.
