Description

[Machine Translation] There were once men who lived for their dreams and had a strong sense of character. The film "Asakusa Tsukuba no Kikujiro" depicts the passionate drama of the men of the Meiji era who created Asakusa Roku-gu, a sacred place for modern entertainment, from the perspective of a modern youth who has time-traveled back in time. --The film is set in the present day. Koda Keisuke (Hasegawa Jun) runs a small theater company in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture. He is ambitious but somewhat unreliable, and the company's financial situation is on fire. One day, while touring Asakusa, something strange happens to Keisuke. He and Yumeko ( Reiko Mizumachi ), a writer in the troupe with him, are transported through time and space! Keisuke and Yumeko found themselves in the precincts of a shrine in Asakusa during the Meiji era. They were rescued by Kikujiro Yamada ( Takeshi Matsudaira ). The man who helped them was Kikujiro Yamada ( Ken Matsudaira ), a native of Hojo, Tsukuba, who would contribute to the development of Asakusa's six wards from the Meiji era to the Showa era. Hamakichi Negishi ( Saburo Kitajima ) has a bond of trust with Kikujiro. He is the man who started the entertainment company Negishi Kogyo-bu and built the first theater in Asakusa's six wards, the Jobanza. As he watches Kikujiro and Hamakichi chat amiably, Keisuke is impressed by the spirit of the two men who are trying to revitalize Asakusa Roku-ward...

かつてこんなにも、夢のために生きた、漢気ある男たちがいた。タイムスリップした現代の若者の視点から、近代エンターテイメントの聖地・浅草六区を創った明治の男達の熱いドラマを描く、映画『浅草・筑波の喜久次郎』。――現代。茨城県つくば市で小さな劇団を主宰する幸田啓介(長谷川純)。意欲はあるが、どこか頼りなく、劇団の経済事情も火の車。ある日、浅草を巡っていた啓介に、不思議なことが起きる。一緒にいた座付き作家の夢子(水町レイコ)と共に、時空を超えてしまったのだ! 気づけば、啓介と夢子は、明治時代の浅草の神社の境内にいた。二人を助けてくれたのは、山田喜久次郎(松平健)。それは、明治から昭和にかけて、浅草六区の発展に貢献することになる、筑波の北条出身の男の名・・・。そんな喜久次郎と信頼の絆で結ばれている、根岸浜吉(北島三郎)。興行会社・根岸興行部を興し、浅草六区初の劇場・常磐座を作った男だ。喜久次郎と浜吉が愉快そうに話すのを見ながら、啓介は、浅草六区を興そうとしている二人の男の心意気に感激し・・・。
