Description

Special low-priced edition to commemorate "the 100th anniversary of Yuzo Kawashima's birth"! --A young man named Jiro Sone (Rentaro Mikuni) comes to businessman Daisuke Kaji's (Satoshi Yamamura) hotel, introduced by his daughter Yachiyo (Yumeji Tsukioka), to ask for funds for his research on Japanese fluke. Jiro agreed to Sone's request, but did not offer to pay for the research. Yachiyo was dissatisfied with her husband Katsuhira, who came home late that night with a small dog in his arms. After Yachiyo's disappearance, Katsuhira was about to carry out his plan to conquer the Karakoram Mountains. One day, he finds the little dog with a woman he has never seen before. When he approached her with a sense of nostalgia, he found it was Kyoko, who worked at a dressmaker's store. Yachiyo returned to Katsuhira after being scolded by Daisuke, and she scolded Katsuhira's mountain climbing plan. She told him that she wanted to marry Katsuhira, not knowing that he was her father-in-law. Since she did not tell him her name, Kaji encouraged her in many ways. 妻の座に対する若き女性の悩みと抵抗を描いて新しい時代に訴える!! 全女性に新しき時代の愛情のありかたを訴える文芸巨編! 「川島雄三生誕100周年」を記念する特別廉価版! ――実業家梶大助(山村聰)のホテルへ、娘の八千代(月丘夢路)の紹介で、曾根二郎(三國連太郎)という青年がカジカの研究資金を出して貰うためにやって来た。曾根の願いを心よく承諾した梶だが、決して金を出すとは云わなかった。八千代は夫克平に不満を持っていたが、その夜も遅くなって一匹の小犬をかかえて帰ってきた彼に冷たい態度をとり、八千代は大阪の実家へ戻ってしまった。克平は八千代がいなくなってから、カラコルム山脈征服の計画を実行しようとしていた。ある日例の小犬を見ず知らずの女性が連れているのを見つけた。なつかしさに近寄ると、それは洋裁店に働く杏子だった。八千代は大助に叱られて克平の元に戻ってきたが、克平の登山計画をなじった。梶の世話を受けていた杏子は、それが克平の義父とも知らず、克平と結婚したい旨打明けた。名前を云わなかったため梶も色々と杏子を励ますのであった。克平は鹿島槍登山に出掛け、直後新聞がその遭難を伝えてきた・・・。ピクチャーディスク仕様(予定)。

There are 6 region codes. Typically, DVD players sold in one region is compatible only with DVD titles that are encoded for that region.

There are a few DVD titles that are playable in all regions. Such titles are indicated as "Region Code: ALL" under "Edition Details" in item pages. If the indication is missing, then it must be assumed that the title is encoded for Region 2. *Please note that opened items are not eligible for returns, unless there is a manufacturer defect. So please make sure that your DVD player can play region 2 DVDs before completing your order (see Returns Policy).

HD DVD

HD DVDs titles are playable only on HD DVD players. They are not playalbe on conventional DVD players or Blu-ray players. On the other hand, Twin Format disc has a layer that is playable also on conventional DVD players. Such titles are indicated as "Format: HD DVD Twin Format" in item details page. *We'll add accurate information on regional encoding as they become available, but for the time-being, please assume that HD DVD titles available at CDJapan are encoded for Region-2.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.

DVD-Audio

DVD-Audios are playable only on DVD-Audio players and DVD players that are compatible with DVD-Audios (to find out for sure, consult the manual of your DVD player, or look for DVD-Audio logo). DVD-Audios are not playable on regular DVD players or CD players.

SACD (Super Audio CD)

SACDs are playable only on SACD players, and will not play on regular CD players. On the other hand, SACD Hybrid disc has a layer that is playable also on regular CD payers. Such titles are indicated as "Format: SACD-Hybrid" in item details page.
