Description

[Machine Translation] Jean Gabin's masterpiece! Jacques Bekker (The Crown of Flesh) directed this 1954 downtown Paris film. Based on the novel by Albert Simonin, the film was adapted by Simonin, Maurice Griff (The Design of Happiness), and Bekker. The cinematography was by Pierre Montazel (Shadow of Delusion), and the music was by Jean Vignet (Under the Paris Sky: The Seine Flows). The cast includes Jean Gabin (The Moment of Love), Rene Daly (The Wanted), Jeanne Moreau (A Capricious Girl in Paris), Dora Dol and Lino Borini (The Mistress Manon). --In the back streets of Paris, Maks (Jean Gabin) and Lytton (Rene Dary) are friendly playmates. They spot a 50-million-franc gold bar being brought to the Orly airfield and successfully rob it. They kept the gold hidden until the situation had cooled off, intending to convert it into cash at some point. One day, however, Lytton inadvertently tells Josie ( Jeanne Moreau ), a woman at a nightclub, about the gold. Josie was the mistress of Angelo, a drug trafficker, so it became known that Maks and Litton were the gold robbers. Angelo immediately tried to catch them and find out where the gold was hidden, but Maks discovered Angelo's plan by looking into his movements. The next morning, Maks stopped Litton and went to visit his uncle, an organ dealer, to take care of the gold nuggets. In his absence, Lytton went to Jozi in retaliation, and was severely beaten and kidnapped by Angelo's gang. Maks desperately searched for Riton, but was unable to locate him. Then he receives a phone call from Angelo, who offers to give him the litton in exchange for 50 million francs. Maks decides to save the lithon, after a long hesitation over whether it is money or friendship. Maks loaded the gold into his car and drove to the designated location. Angelo accepted the gold in exchange for Riton and tried to shoot them dead on the spot, and a fierce firefight broke out. Angelo's car caught fire and he lost his life. The gold is back in Mux's hands, but his partner Lytton is seriously wounded, and the police force is closing in. Maks was once again torn between money and friendship, but in the end, friendship won out and he fled with Liton, abandoning the gold nuggets. However, Liton, who was seriously wounded, finally died.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.
