Description

[Machine Translation] [Based on the original story by Seishi Yokomizo, this is a thriller period drama by the famous duo of Nakamura Kinnosuke (Isshin Tasuke) and director SAWASHIMA Tadashi, who also starred in Isshin Tasuke. Bunshichi, the son of the famous actor Harimaya Utaroku, has run away from his hut because he hates actors due to his natural temperament, and is now living a life of a humble playboy. One night, on his way home from the gambling hall, Bunshichi is attacked by a mysterious group of black masked men. Bunshichi immediately tells the yoriki, Ikeda Daisuke, about the incident, but he is angered when he is told that it was a hoax since there were no witnesses. He was furious at being told that it was all a ruse, since there were no witnesses. In fact, on the night Fumishichi was attacked, there had been an incident at the Katsuta clan's Edo residence in which Teruhime, the eldest daughter of the clan's soon-to-be ruler, had been manipulated by an eerie spirit of a ground spider. When her father, Utaroku, is also killed by someone, Bunshichi sets out to investigate the case in the disguise of a professional actor! The cast includes Kinnosuke Nakamura as the famous detective Bunshichi, as well as Tokizo, Utatsura, Shibajaku, Katsuo, and other members of the Harimaya family, all of whom are well-known members of the narien (Japanese pear orchard) family. They join forces with Kataoka Chiezo as Ooka Koshizen-samurai to uncover a conspiracy to run the city of Edo.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.

SACD (Super Audio CD)

SACDs are playable only on SACD players, and will not play on regular CD players. On the other hand, SACD Hybrid disc has a layer that is playable also on regular CD payers. Such titles are indicated as "Format: SACD-Hybrid" in item details page.
