Description

Shohei Imamura wrote the script for his favorite disciple, Tadahiko Isomi. This is the sister work to the masterpiece "An Introduction to Anthropology" from "Eroko Joshi Tachi", and is a masterpiece of human comedy filled with laughter and pathos, the way of life, guts, eroticism, vitality, and laughter of women and men, set in "Arsaro", which was very popular in the 1945's. --Toshinori Masumoto has closed down his used bookstore in Tokyo to become the manager of the popular cabaret "Oasis" in Osaka. With his skillful advertising and tactics, the restaurant is thriving day after day. This path was more appealing to him than the warmth of a home with a family waiting for him. At that time, he receives information that a competitor is opening a new store. Toshinori struggles to open a second "Oasis" as soon as possible, but the opposition from the local residents is strong. In the meantime, there are all kinds of problems, such as employees with bad behavior, hostess quarrels, police actions, and a close relationship between twin hostesses. Then, Toshinori gets a chance to appear on a wide TV show. Toshinori makes an impassioned speech about cabaret. Will his passion reach the public, and will he be able to open the second "Oasis"? There are 6 region codes. Typically, DVD players sold in one region is compatible only with DVD titles that are encoded for that region.

HD DVD

HD DVDs titles are playable only on HD DVD players. They are not playalbe on conventional DVD players or Blu-ray players. On the other hand, Twin Format disc has a layer that is playable also on conventional DVD players. Such titles are indicated as "Format: HD DVD Twin Format" in item details page. *We'll add accurate information on regional encoding as they become available, but for the time-being, please assume that HD DVD titles available at CDJapan are encoded for Region-2.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.

SACD (Super Audio CD)

SACDs are playable only on SACD players, and will not play on regular CD players. On the other hand, SACD Hybrid disc has a layer that is playable also on regular CD payers. Such titles are indicated as "Format: SACD-Hybrid" in item details page.
