[Machine Translation] [Shochiku's war film "Destroyer Yukikaze" is now available on DVD for the first time! Yasuhiro Tokura and Kenichi Ohashi jointly wrote the original scenario and Tatsuo Yamada directed this war film. Itabashi Shigeo was in charge of cinematography. The film tells the war history of the destroyer "Yukikaze" of the Imperial Japanese Navy, which was praised as a "miracle destroyer" because it escaped being sunk in numerous fierce battles during the Pacific War and survived until the end of the war, and still boasts outstanding fame and immense popularity, from the perspective of one person who was also involved in its construction. With the full cooperation of the Japan Defense Agency, extensive location shooting was conducted on the destroyer Yukikaze, with powerful naval battle scenes that make full use of exercise footage, and the appearance of the former Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft rescue ship and minesweeper Okichidori as a small ship. Please come see this moving drama depicting the courage of the legendary "unsinkable ship" Yukikaze and the people who survived under the harsh conditions. --Yutaro Kida (Isamu Nagato) was an engineer at the Sasebo Naval Arsenal, where he built the destroyer Yukikaze. Kida, who loved the Yukikaze more than anything else, petitioned the ship's designer, Major Yamakawa (Bunta Sugawara), and after being commissioned into the Navy, Kida became a crew member of the Yukikaze. In the midst of the ever-increasing fire of war, Yukikaze achieved great results while remaining unscathed. On his return to Japan, Kida was taken to the home of Captain Teshima, where he found Yukiko (Iwashita Shima), the captain's younger sister, secretly fond of him. In the 20th year of the Showa Era (1945), the war intensified. One day, Kida bumps into his younger brother Yuji ( Katsuro Takashi ). Kida felt a surge of emotion when he saw his younger brother, who was a member of a suicide squadron and had no idea what the future held for him. A few days after leaving Yuji, he received the sad news of Yuji's death. Kida did not even tell his mother (Kumeko Urabe), who had just come to visit him, and he became the one on board the Yukikaze. The Yamato and Yukikaze were destroyers sailing to Okinawa, but now the Yamato was sunk and only Yukikaze was ordered to return to Okinawa after rescuing the crew. Yutaro, who had lost both his brother and his beloved Yukiko, gritted his teeth and endured the retreat. On the day the war ended, the intact Yukikaze was handed over to the Chinese Navy as compensation. Kida, dressed as a farmer, saw off his heroic figure forever. *Because the original film version has passed many years, some parts of both the video and audio may not be properly reproduced.
