Tomokazu Miura, who plays the lead role, gives an austere performance. Bengal, who plays the other character, also shines as a unique character. --The story begins with Kenichiro Mizuta, a former friend who calls Yusaku Kajimura, a man approaching his fiftieth birthday, back to his old hometown for the first time in twenty-eight years, as he plays with suicidal thoughts and is all alone. His wife, ... Yukiko, is dying. Yusaku, please come back to Usuki. Come back to Usuki. When Yusaku returns to his hometown for the first time in 28 years, he finds Yukiko, the wife of his former best friend, bandaged all over and silently waiting for her eventual death. Yukiko had always been in love with him. Yukiko had always been in love with him, and he knew how deeply he had hurt her. Mizuta, who was always in love with Yukiko. 大林宣彦監督作品――伊勢正三[詩・曲・歌]より―― 今、春が来て君は綺麗になった。去年よりずっと綺麗になった。・・・日本の古里・臼杵を舞台に、伊勢正三作詞・作曲による名曲「なごり雪」をモチーフにした感動の物語。主演の三浦友和が渋みをきかせた演技を披露。相手役のベンガルも、個性的なキャラクターを光らせている。――一人ぼっちで自殺願望と戯れながら、五十歳を迎えようとしている男、梶村祐作を、二十八年ぶりに古里へと呼び寄せるかつての友、水田健一郎、この物語はそこから始まる。「妻が、・・・雪子が死にかけている。・・・祐作、帰って来てくれないか。臼杵に」。二十八年ぶりに古里に戻った祐作が見たものは、全身に包帯を巻かれ、やがて訪れる死を静かに待つ、かつての親友の妻、雪子の姿だった。いつも自分を恋していた雪子。その気持ちを知りながら深く傷つけた自分。いつも雪子を恋していた水田。そしてまた東京の大学へ向かう自分をホームで見送り、春にはきっと帰って来て、とせがんだ雪子。約束を守れなかった自分。雪子は俺が守ると言った水田の姿。自分達はこの二十八年間、何を得て、何を失ったのか。「なごり雪」の切なくも美しい旋律に乗って、日本の古里の中、物語はやがてクライマックスへと向う。

There are 6 region codes. Typically, DVD players sold in one region is compatible only with DVD titles that are encoded for that region.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.
