Description

[Machine Translation] A fine sci-fi monster movie released in theaters in Japan in 1988. This is a work by J. Oblow and S. Carpenter, who were making horror films together at the time. Compared to low-budget horror films of the past, this film was made at a much higher production cost, and the SFX of creatures and deformed humans transforming into them were outstanding at that time. The creatures in this film were inspired by the monsters in H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. The metamorphosis scene of Amanda Pais, the beautiful woman from "The Cold Room" and "Leviathan," is shocking. A high quality version of the horrifying "Kindred". --John goes to visit an old woman who has had a heart attack. But the old woman says mysteriously, "Anthony is alive! She leaves behind mysterious words and Anthony's diary, and passes away. Melissa and John help her sort through Anthony's belongings and solve the mystery of his diary, which contains the record of a mad scientist's experiment to create a life form by crossing the genes of a human and a marine mollusk.

1988年に日本劇場公開されたSFモンスター映画の佳作。当時ホラー映画をコンビで製作していたJ・オブロウとS・カーペンターの作品。今までの低予算ホラーに比べ格段の制作費をかけ、クリーチャーや変貌する奇形人間のSFXなど当時として出色の出来で、演出や出演者 (二大アカデミー俳優: ロッド・スタイガーとキム・ハンターの競演) もメジャー級である。本作のクリーチャーは、H・P・ラブクラフトのクトゥルフ神話に登場するモンスターに影響されている。「コールド・ルーム」「リバイアサン」の絶世の美女アマンダ・ペイズの異形のメタモルフォーゼ・シーンは衝撃的。世にもおぞましい「キンドレッド」のハイ・クォリティー版。――心臓発作で倒れた老婆の見舞いに行ったジョン。しかし、その老婆は「アンソニーは生きている!」と謎の言葉とアンソニーの日記を残して、この世を去る。遺品整理を手伝うメリッサとジョンは日記の謎を解くが・・・そこにはマッド・サイエンティストにより人間と海性軟体動物の遺伝子を掛け合わせた生命体を作りだす実験の記録が書かれていた。

There are 6 region codes. Typically, DVD players sold in one region is compatible only with DVD titles that are encoded for that region.

Such titles are indicated as "Format: HD DVD Twin Format" in item details page. *We'll add accurate information on regional encoding as they become available, but for the time-being, please assume that HD DVD titles available at CDJapan are encoded for Region-2.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.
