Description

[Machine Translation] In Japan, nearly 30% of the population is aged 65 or older, and incidents involving nursing care continue to occur. Akira Hayamanaka's novel, which won the 16th Japan Mystery Literature Grand Prize for New Writers, is sharply focused on this issue and has been adapted to a film by Tetsu Maeda, director of "Konna no Yoruyoe no Banana Kayo Aishiki Jitsu Monogatari" (This Late at Night, Banana Kayo? (And Then the Baton Was Passed) and "No Money for Retirement! Kenichi Matsuyama stars as Munenori Shiba, a caregiver who was adored by everyone, but who killed 42 people. Masami Nagasawa plays Hidemi Otomo, a prosecutor who tries to bring him to justice. The two first-time co-stars give a tense battle for justice between Shiba, who is in despair of society and commits crimes according to his own beliefs, and Otomo, who hunts Shiba down in the name of the law. The film also stars such talented actors as Osamu Suzuka, Maki Sakai, Naho Toda, Yumiko Fujita, and Akira Emoto. This is a shocking and moving social entertainment film that questions the nature of family and the meaning of human dignity in today's society. --The bodies of an elderly man and the director of a home-care center are found in a house in the early morning. The investigation leads to Munenori Shiba ( Kenichi Matsuyama ), who works at the center. However, he was a devoted caregiver who was loved by the families he cared for. Prosecutor Hidemi Otomo ( Masami Nagasawa ) discovers that the home care center where Shiba works has an abnormally high mortality rate for the elderly in its care, and that more than 40 people have died at home since he started working there. Otomo confronts Shinba in order to uncover the truth. He claims that what he did was not "murder" but "salvation. Otomo is puzzled by this admission. Why did he kill so many elderly people? And what does he really mean by "salvation"? As Otomo investigates the families of the victims, she learns of the harsh reality of the caregivers' families, a reality that cannot be covered by social support. She then confronts the beliefs of Shiba with the justice of the law.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.

SACD (Super Audio CD)

SACDs are playable only on SACD players, and will not play on regular CD players. On the other hand, SACD Hybrid disc has a layer that is playable also on regular CD payers. Such titles are indicated as "Format: SACD-Hybrid" in item details page.
