ROSEMari IijimaA Suitable Debut
A full album of pop-flavored electronic melodies embodies this work, with nice production by legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto to keep things interesting. "Blueberry Jam" and "My Best Friend" are easily two tracks that grab the listener with catchy sounds that remain instantly memorable. Other tracks like "Mari'n" and "Kitto Ieru" help add a fine taste to what is simply a strong album in Mari's discography.

blanche [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]Mari IijimaGreat!
The production work of this effort is unlike anything else in her discography, with haunting sounds and mesmerizing percussion laced throughout alongside some great pop tunes. "Marcy Deerfield" and "Angel's Paint" remain the knockout tracks in the experiemental first half of the album. The latter half of the album even finds a more melodic Mari with the rightfully titled "Melody" and "Birthday" to keep the mood of the album more varied. Worth it for fans of the artist, and easily among her finest efforts.

midori [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]Mari IijimaMari's Best!
An album full of catchy songs and sweeping melodies, Midori proves to be one of the most solid pop albums I've ever heard. Whether it's the opening number "Boku No Mahou" with its orchestral touches or the softer sounds of the grandiose "Itsumo no Party" this album never fails to please the ears. If you want a taste of Mari at her best, this album is ideal. My personal favorite.

Kimono Stereo Mari Iijima / Gray [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]Mari IijimaA Worthy Effort
An album that fans will appreciate, there's pop gems like "Pink no Rouge" and "Cecile no amegasa" to make this a nice addition for fans who have already become familiar with her works. Not bad.

GOLDEN BEST: Kanako WadaKanako WadaExcellent Wada, Kanako collection CD
I have looked for Wada, Kanako CDs for many, many years. They have always been hard to find. This CD is a great introduction to fans of hers but have not experienced her songs outside of Kimagure Orange Road. The CD contains a collection of 17 songs, of which the first 8 are directly from Kimagure Orange Road TV, OVA and original Movie. The sound quality is better than the limited edition KOR Singing Heart2 collection, considering that this release is more than 10 years after. The non-KOR songs are fairly good, with my favorite being track 10. Overall, this is a great purchase for a hard to find artist at a great price.

YAMATO the Best II Space Battleship YAMATO Vocal CollectionAnimationA True Classic For Yamato Fans!
Any fan of Space Battleship Yamato/StarBlazers MUST add this album to their collection, otherwise they cannot call themselves a fan--They're WANNABE FANS!! I've tried to get this album from another site at a comparable price, it was almost $2.00 US more there, but because it was based in Hong Kong, which has a lot of credit card fraud, the purchase was denied, thank the stars for cdJapan!!! BANZAI! Bravo! And anything else complimentary.

Dear Friends IIHiromi IwasakiExcellent album
I bought her first series of her album, Dear Friends, during a Tokyo trip and was immediately captivated by her beautiful vocals. When her Dear Friends II was released, I bought it from CDJapan without considering much. She's really good with her vocals, particularly favourite tracks 1 (duet with sister Yoshimi Iwasaki), 2, 5 (OA by Momoe Yamaguchi), 6....

The Last QuarterNanase AikawaAnother Excellent Softer Nanase Album
This album is the companion to Nanase-san's The First Quarter. Like that album, this one features music that's outside of the hard-rock style found in her usual albums. Most of the comments I made in my review of The First Quarter apply here, except these songs seem to borrow a little less from Jazz and more from mellow rock and pop. Again, her voice comes shining through. The arrangements are well done and the songs very melodic. I find I enjoy these songs just a little better than the other album, hence the 5 rating this time around. It's clear Nanase is a talented individual and can sing a variety of styles. I wish I knew the story behind how and why these mini-albums got made. It was a great idea and I hope she continues to make CDs in both this and her harder rock styles. Don't expect your typical Nanase album, or your typical J-Pop album for that matter, but this album is highly recommended. Enjoy something different.

Very nice songs, most of the vocal themes from Ghibli films. I love each and every one (well, maybe not the Pom Poko songs). Worth buying if you just want the songs.

We Love Katamari- Original Soundtrack: Katamari wa DamacyGame MusicNamco does it again.
The Katamari-series of games is truly something special, and so is the music. From the peppy, upbeat opening theme, to the dancable DISCO PRINCE, and the nerve-wrecking KuruKuru Rock, there's a lot of variety here. Though the soundtrack will probably appeal more to those who have actually played the game, it's very good nonetheless if you're in for something a little different. Namco's sound department has done another good job!

LUPIN THE THIRD THE ORIGINAL-NEW MIX 2005-REMIXED BY YUJI OHNOAnimationNew Variations on Old Classics
This is a special CD: Columbia had Yuji Ohno himself remix several of his classic compositions, and the results are fantastic. Rather than go all-out and completely remix everything, Ohno has simply brought out bits of the music that were previously hidden or relegated to the background. The results are a bunch of songs that sound the same as always, and yet different at the same time. All the Lupin themes ('77, '79, and '80) have benefitted greatly from this enhancement-- Especially '79, which has suddenly become one of my favorite versions of the Lupin theme thanks to the subtle changes Ohno makes to it here. Other standouts include the Love Theme (both instrumental and vocal versions), and the Samba Temperado, which is not only remixed, but extended to be 35 seconds longer than its original running time. Additionally, this CD features a version of "Super Hero" with completely different lyrics. The version we know and love is in fact superior, but this alternative isn't half bad either. In short, the changes Ohno has made to his classics really spruce them up for the new milennium.
