The Phantom Of The Opera Complete Edition [SHM-CD]Musical (Original Cast Recording)A masterpiece from Sarah Brightman
She is divine. The voice, the presentation of the material and its symphonic reading, unearthly plasticity creates a sense of presence in paradise. The disc is very well made, a very natural sound.

Godzilla Resurgence (Shin Godzilla) Special Edition [3Blu-ray]Sci-Fi Live ActionNooooo. No subtitles.
Really, really want this movie, but no English subs means no point in buying. I guess I will have to wait for an inferior US release.

Departures (Okuribito)Japanese MovieA film that is good for the soul
It was enlightening seeing how Japanese people of a small town honor and grieve the dead. What I found beautiful was the humbling effects of death on the people, and the honor that can be found in the work of occupations that people would normally not think to take on.

Surround Chonmagekun In-Ear Headphones [For Listening to Voices]Great for listening to Podcasts
This is my go to headphones for listening to Podcasts and Audiobooks. The headphones make it easier for me to listen to the voice of who is talking. Also helps with language learning if you are listening to a native speaker, speaking their language and hearing their voice clearly does help with learning a language.

Surround Chonmagekun In-Ear Headphones [For Listening to Voices]Clear sound & comfortable design
I bought these earphones based on the description that they are good for listening to voices. I use them with my iPhone and computer to listen to radio shows and they produce a very clear sound and are good at reducing the background sound when listening to people talk. For listening to music, they reduce the bass so the singing voice sounds louder and are okay for when you want to focus on the singing voice. They have a comfortable in-ear fit that is good when listening for longer periods of time. Quite a good purchase!!

Itazura na Kiss 2 - Love in Tokyo (English Subtitles) Director's Cut Edition Blu-ray Box 1Japanese TV SeriesA funny and touching love story
So glad I splashed out and bought the whole set of Itazura na Kiss Season 2 Blue Ray discs ( Box 1 and 2) , which included all the Directors' cuts ( extra 10-15 minutes per episode)! Re watching the extended episodes again is like rediscovering new perspectives on this wonderfully-told love story. For me, Miki Honoka is THE definitive Kotoko Aihara...

MelodyMoviePretty good for MELODY on Blu Ray.
When I saw this movie was going to be given a Blu Ray release, I was excited if not surprised. Just as it was in South America, particularly Argentina, MELODY (a.k.a S.W.A.L.K) has had a large cult following since the mid 70's and has seen several releases in the last few decades. I have owned just about every edition of this film, from VHS to Laser Disc to DVD and now Blu Ray. It was not until a few years ago that the original Widescreen edition was made available, which was already a huge jump from the early editions. However, quality of the film has always been up to Japanese standards, meaning, pretty great. I had no doubt this Blu Ray edition would look and sound good and I was not disappointed. Thankfully, Japan and the USA both share the same region and NTSC system, so I jumped to pre-order it and got it today, the release date. The Video quality is rather good, with some good sharpness overall and, at times, spectacular. There are, however, some instances where the picture is not as sharp, but it is generally OK. There is some dirt that seems to have surprisingly made it's way into the transfer during one scene and it shows up a couple of times, but when it is gone, that is it. The colors are true to the original and still retains that early 1970's feel of a misty, gray London. The sound is Dolby 2.0 and nothing to write home about. It is mostly clear except for being a bit muffled every so often, making some of the dialogue somewhat difficult to understand, particularly Ornshaw's heavy cockney. Still, I was generally pleased. The extras are not many, just the Japanese trailer. That is OK as most of us fans should be happy that this got a Blu Ray release to really care about any extras. I doubt this Blu Ray will ever get a US release, so getting this Blu Ray directly from Japan (I got it from CDJapan) is your best bet. The price is a bit steep, though it won't break the bank. If you are a fan of this film, even remotely, GET THIS. Japan has a tendency of releasing stuff in limited numbers and when stuff is gone, it is gone, so I would not hesitate.

Toshokan Senso (Library Wars) Standard EditionJapanese MovieAmazing!
Doesn't contain English Subtitles, but if you've read the manga or the light novels or seen the anime, you can easily understand what the gist is about. The movie focuses a lot more on the action and character development, and even if you loved the manga, you won't be disappointed. The romance is subtle but grows and the two leads respect each other. If you want to see a movie with one of the BEST action scenes this year, check this out. I hope we get this released in the US one day, but until then, please check this out. I can guarantee you'll want to learn more about this series.
