Customer Reviews
Picking up on the more collected and focused(yet every bit as chaotic) sound laid out in Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas's junior album "Phase 2", Feeling of Unity shows the band growing musically and without the growing pains. The record will immediately hit the listener with the opening track "Cast Your Shell" which features a collection of beautiful melodies and synth leads mashed together with roaring drums and hard hitting riffs. This will set the pace for the remainder of the record with the intensity picking up with the CD's second track Meaning of Existence before showing its more colorful and fun loving side with Escape From The Loop and Starburst. Fear, and Loathing are no strangers to a "sweet & sour" style of song writing that is apparent on the heavy party-anthem "Party Boys" marrying some of the heaviest elements Fear, and Loathing have ever produced with their own signature blend of fun. This creates a track with a very high amount of replay value before slowing down with and treating the listener with "Gratitude" a fun and more pop-ish track. Both "Ignite Your Frail Mind" and "The Demon Called Careless" resume where the first half of the album left off with more Fear, and Loathing's signature blend of electronic metalcore and catchy J-Rock before going into the capital point of the album "Let Me Hear"(popularized as the OP of Parasyte The Maxim) which shares a similar beautiful song writing we saw in "Cast Your Shell" that makes the song feel huge. Let Me Hear trails into the final track on the album "Journey To Aim High" which again drops the album back down to a lighter tone we saw in Gratitude. Clean vocalist So paints for us a melody over the guitar riff and in one final 'hoorah!' the song explodes with Minami roaring into the track to bid the listener farewell in one final crescendo. Feeling of Unity will go down as, perhaps, the most solid songwritting Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas has ever stitched together; effortlessly gliding between styles and even entire genres almost as if bragging at how easy the band makes it look. The Party Boys have shown us that they have in fact grown up but maturity doesn't mean you have to change who you are and this is, at its core, the focal point of the album.
