クイーン結成50周年を記念して、長らく入手困難だったオリジナル・アルバム全15タイトルの【リミテッド・エディション】が、日本でのみ再発決定!! ■『フラッシュ・ゴードン』(オリジナル発表年: 1980年): 1934年に連載が開始されたアレックス・レイモンドのアメリカン・コミック・ストリップを原作に、マイク・ホッジスが監督したSF映画のサウンドトラックにして9枚目のオリジナル・アルバム。レコーディングを主導したブライアン・メイのヘヴィなギターと、『ザ・ゲーム』から本格的に導入されたシンセサイザーを駆使したファンタジックなサウンドを展開。この壮大なスペース・オペラ・ムーヴィーにより一層の煌めきを与えている。オープニングを飾る「フラッシュのテーマ」は、先行シングルとして発売され、全英10位/全米42位のヒットを記録。その後もさまざまな場面で使われ、彼らの代表曲のひとつにもなった。ボーナスEPには映画の台詞が入った「フラッシュのテーマ (シングル・ヴァージョン)」や「ザ・ヒーロー」のリミックス、「ザ・キス」と「フットボール・ファイト」のアーリー・ヴァージョン、モントリオールでのライヴなど、6曲が収録されている。
