While advancing the roots music direction shown on the previous album, it also contains elements of straight ahead jazz and free jazz. Especially the sound making by Medeski on organ and piano decisively shapes the direction of this work, further highlighting Julian's lyrical melodies in tracks such as "Opal", "Nightshade", and "Something More". The jacket uses a photo of Julian looking down at the guitar fingerboard from above, symbolizing the album title. The sound presents a new way of depicting the American landscape.
