With love from MinCru. A love letter of folk songs to the world. A long-awaited new album after three years, featuring powerful guest artists from Japan and abroad. Born in U.S. military housing in Fussa, Minyo Crusaders have forged a new path by fusing Japanese folk songs with Latin rhythms, earning high praise not only in Japan but also overseas from NPR and The Guardian. Ry Cooder has called them "the best band I have ever seen", and Iggy Pop has also named them as one of his favorite bands. Now, their first new album in three years arrives. In North America, it will be released on the prestigious Blue Note label. As the title suggests, this album is built around the concept of the band's love for folk songs, reviving the sentiments of ordinary people passed down through folk songs across Japan such as "Hokkai Bon Uta", "Hanagasa Ondo", "Shigesa Bushi", and "Iyo Manzai", through the MinCru style that fuses Japanese folk songs with rhythms from around the world such as salsa, cumbia, and afrobeat. Furthermore, guest artists participate for the first time on this album. From Japan, Chitose Hajime and Saya Asakura are featured, and from Colombia, their close ally Frente Cumbiero also appears. The sound creates powerful synergy between the artists, resulting in their most expansive sound to date and a work that showcases Minyo Crusaders' role in spreading Japanese folk songs worldwide. With appearances on NPR "Tiny Desk (home) Concert", the release of the documentary film "Bring Minyo Back!", and overseas tours of more than 60 performances in 20 countries since 2022, Minyo Crusaders have continued to share their love letter of Japanese folk songs both domestically and internationally. Now at the peak of their powers, MinCru will make the world dance YOI YOI with love.
