[ドイツ・グラモフォン・ベスト100] 全てニュー・カッティング (ルビジウム)によりさらにクリアな音質。オリジナル・ジャケットを生かした統一デザイン。 ハイドンの影響を受けてはいるが、若々しい気概に溢れて大胆な手法が随所に窺える第1番。表現の幅がいっそう広がり、ハイドンやモーツァルトのスタイルからの脱却を目指した意欲的な第2番。ベートーヴェンの初期の交響曲2曲を収録した一枚。カラヤンとベルリン・フィルハーモニーはドイツ・グラモフォンに交響曲全集を3回録音したが、これはその最後となった1984/85年の録音で、カラヤン晩年の円熟ぶりを明確に示した演奏となっている。 録音: 1984年1、2月、1985年12月 ベルリン。
