This album features two masterpiece piano concertos, Mozart's "Piano Concerto No. 24" and Beethoven's "Piano Concerto No. 3," performed by Rafal Blechacz, together with Beethoven's solo piano work "32 Variations in C Minor on an Original Theme, WoO 80." The unifying theme of the album is the key of C minor, known for its dramatic and tragic emotional character, allowing listeners to fully appreciate Blechacz's refined technique, extraordinary concentration, delicate expressiveness, and elegant musicianship from multiple perspectives. Joining him are the prestigious Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, founded in 1870 and based at the Kulturpalast in Dresden, and internationally acclaimed Japanese-American conductor Kent Nagano, renowned in both opera and orchestral music. Since their first collaboration in 2013, Blechacz and Nagano have developed a strong artistic partnership, which is once again evident in the rich musical dialogue presented on this recording. [Performers] Rafal Blechacz (piano), Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra (Tracks 1-6), conducted by Kent Nagano (Tracks 1-6). Recorded in Dresden in October 2025. *As this is a Friday street-date release, orders will be shipped on or after the release date.
