      Their Best Album 5

All I could think as I listened to this one was that Shounan no Kaze sure have grown up since Real Riders and Raga Parade. And by "grow up" I don't mean "sell out"--they've become better singers, better songwriters, and an all-around great Japanese band. In a word, this album is awesome. They've managed to become major pop stars without forgetting their reggae roots, and they're probably the band with the most distinctive individual personalities that I've ever listened to. This album only has one bad track, in my opinion, and that's Wakadanna's weird caterwauling on "Inu no Uta." What was he thinking? But every other risk pays off, from their foray into love songs with Junrenka to their bouncy surf-pop-sounding Hare Nami to Song. It's also so nice to finally have Karasu and Saboten on CD. If you're a fan at all, you'll love this one, and if you don't know the band, it's a perfect introduction.
