The first live-action adaptation of a Makoto Shinkai work! Starring Hokuto Matsumura, directed by Yoshiyuki Okuyama, with Mitsuki Takahata as the heroine. The theme song is Kenshi Yonezu's "1991", and the insert song is Masayoshi Yamazaki's "One more time, One more chance". -- Spring 1991. Takaki and Akari meet at an elementary school in Tokyo, and gently reach out to each other's loneliness, gradually opening their hearts to one another. However, upon graduation, Akari moves away. Even after being separated, the two continue exchanging letters, feeling truly connected each time they touch each other's words. In the winter of their first year of junior high school, on a snowy night in Iwafune, Tochigi, they reunite and make a final promise beneath a single cherry blossom tree standing in the snow: "Let's meet here again on March 26, 2009." Time passes, and in 2008, Takaki, now working in Tokyo, lives closed-off days without deeply connecting with others. As he approaches the age of 30, he begins to realize that a part of himself has been left behind in distant time. What comes to mind are unfading landscapes and the feeling of the promised day. Akari, too, quietly lives her daily life along with memories of those days. Over 18 years, the two walk at different speeds toward a single place of shared memory.
