Summer Night Concert 2026 [Limited Release]

The "Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert" is an open-air concert held at Schonbrunn Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is one of the Vienna Philharmonic's signature events alongside the New Year's Concert. This year, Lorenzo Viotti, the next music director of Zurich Opera House and a much-talked-about figure who also takes office as music director of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra from April 2026, makes his first appearance at the Summer Night Concert. The program, beginning with Suppe's "Light Cavalry" and leading to "Daphnis et Chloe" Suite No.2, has a brilliance suitable for an outdoor concert. Notable pieces include "Straussiana," a fine work written after World War II by Korngold, who also had deep ties with Vienna, and the orchestral version of "Adoration," an organ piece by 20th-century American female composer Florence Price, whose works were also featured in this year's New Year's Concert (both performed by the Vienna Philharmonic for the first time). Welsh-born opera singer Bryn Terfel appears as soloist and sings arias from Boito's "Mefistofele," Verdi's "Falstaff," and Wagner's "Das Rheingold," as well as "Tevye's Song" from Bock's musical "Fiddler on the Roof." Imported edition manufactured in Europe (domestic specification) / kurumi tasuki / Japanese commentary and lyrics translations included (planned).

ニューイヤー・コンサートと並ぶウィーン・フィルの名物行事で、ユネスコの世界遺産にも指定されているシェーンブルン宮殿を舞台に行われるオープンエアの演奏会「ウィーン・フィル・サマー・ナイト・コンサート」。今年は、チューリヒ歌劇場の次期音楽総監督で2026年4月から東京交響楽団の音楽監督にも就任し大きな話題を捲いているロレンツォ・ヴィオッティがサマーナイト初登場。スッペ「軽騎兵」に始まり、「ダフニスとクロエ」第2組曲に至る演目は野外コンサートにふさわしい華やかさ。ウィーンと所縁も深いコルンゴルトが第2次大戦後に書いた佳曲「シュトラウシアーナ」、今年のニューイヤー・コンサートでも作品が取り上げられた20世紀アメリカの女性作曲家フローレンス・プライスのオルガン曲「アドレーション」のオーケストラ版が注目曲 (いずれもウィーン・フィル初演奏)。ウェールズ生まれのオペラ歌手ブリン・ターフェルがソリストとして、ボーイトの《メフィストーフェレ》、ヴェルディの《ファルスタッフ》、ワーグナーの《ラインの黄金》からアリア、ボックのミュージカル《屋根の上のヴァイオリン弾き》から「テヴィエの歌」を歌う。■ヨーロッパ製造の輸入盤 (国内仕様) / クルミタスキ / 日本語解説・対訳付き (予定)
