re(CORD) [CD+Blu-ray]

Kuu hits another slam dunk with this new album jammed with amazing tracks. Pretty much every track is on equal with how much I love it. Her English has also continued to improve as there are maybe only 2 tiny grammatical errors at most on this album. Her pronunciation in both English and Japanese though is perfectly on point all the way through. The other special treat on this album is the last track, a cover of Livin' La Vida Loca, a song I loved in my high school days. She actually makes this song sound even better than the original from 20 years ago. The MVs are cool, especially the ones for GF2019 and LLVL. The MV for "again" makes a nod to previous MVs for "Ai no Uta", "you" and "On And On" and is absolutely stunning. Lastly are the ones for "k,". The original has gotten some comments saying it's cheap, and while it certainly is more simple it works. It's fun and enjoyable and works perfectly with the feel of the song. The dance version is similar to the original but is mostly dancing, something Kuu always knows how to do flawlessly. Lastly the packaging is quite nice. The disks are designed to look like vinyl records. The booklet has the wires design all the way throughout and the lyrics laid out beautifully and tidy on every page. On the last page is a little thank you note to everyone with a special nod to her fans. The only tiny disappointment in this release is that the booklet only has one photo of her in the middle, which is unusual for the singer. Hopefully her next release will include far more.

re(CORD) is such an amazing album! It flows so well together with a lot of dance songs, pop songs and a ballad to round it all out. The album's concept really shines in each and every song. It has the originality that Koda Kumi is known for, and yet it feels fresh, new and current. I love almost every song on the album. My only wish is that she made a music video for every song on this album, the same way she did with the albums Kingdom and JAPONESQUE. That would have been amazing!
