Set in the 1960s, this is a story depicting the growth of a small Belgian girl named Amelie, born in Japan, portraying her view of life and colors, and emotions overflowing through witty words. This work, "Amelie and the Rain Story", is a feature-length animated adaptation by co-directors Mailys Vallade and Lian-Choe Han of the semi-autobiographical novel "Tubular Metaphysics" by Amelie Norton, who spent her early childhood in Hyogo Prefecture as the youngest daughter of a Belgian diplomat family. After its world premiere at the 78th Cannes International Film Festival in 2025, it won the Audience Award at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Furthermore, it received a nomination for Best Animated Film at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, a total of seven nominations at the 53rd Annie Awards, and a nomination for Best Animated Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards, earning high acclaim overseas. The music is composed by Mari Fukuhara, who is active as a composer and pianist and has worked on music for documentary films such as "Yokohama Mary", co-created with Comoesta Yaegashi. The Japanese edition specially includes the theme song "Koi no Vacance" by The Peanuts.
