Inside The Game

シューゲイズとポストハードコアをミックスし、革命的なサウンドを生み出したタイの北部の都市、ナコーンサワンで活動中のTeleverによるデビューアルバム! 結成から約5年が経ち遂にリリースされた本作は、まさにTeleverが表現してきたジャンルが交差する中で熱さと冷たさのどちらも体感できる作品に仕上がっている。アルバムのスタートを飾る「Whole」はDIIVの『Deceiver』を彷彿させるような重圧なギターサウンドが鳴り響く中にヴォーカル、Taeの音に溶けこむようなヴォーカルが加わり完璧なシューゲイズであり、続く「Today」では一気に舞台をポスト・ハードコア・シーンへと移し、シューゲイズなギターサウンドの中で感情的なシャウトやヴォーカルが放たれ、この2曲だけで既にTeleverの自己紹介になっている。3曲目に収録されている「Ghost」は従来のシューゲイズのアプローチだけではなく、エモ辺りの熱さを持ったギターサウンドがダイレクトに伝わってくる。タイトル曲「Inside the Game」とかもヘヴィーなサウンドにも関わらず00年代のエモやパンクなどからの影響を吸収したことによるポップに響かせることに成功している。8曲目「Always」ではドリームポップ色が強いシューゲイズというまた少し違った角度の楽曲を披露し、ラストを飾る「Goodbye」までアジアだけではなく世界的に見ても新鮮なシューゲイズを鳴らし続けたアルバムで、Televerというバンドはすぐに世界で注目されることになるであろう。
