This is at once a prototype and a finished form. Effortlessly transcending era and genre, Terumasa Hino captivates the world. His sound and presence are the top of the tops! Even before Japanese jazz came to be called "wa-jazz," and indeed even before the rare groove movement, "Hip Seagull" has continued to shake dance floors, stimulate listeners, and fascinate collectors. Since his first album "Alone, Alone and Alone," Terumasa Hino has always remained at the forefront. He has left masterpieces in every era, but one to count among his signature works is this 1978 recording. It lines up songs with a special atmosphere, such as the major piece "Hip Seagull," which develops from a dreamlike intro into jazz-funk, and the mellow, cosmic "This Planet Is Ours." This is at once a prototype and a finished form. "Hip Seagull" captivates the past, the present, and even the future. Text by Yusuke Ogawa (UNIVERSOUNDS / DEEP JAZZ REALITY)
