Great for liquid foundation , produces a soft and satin like finish on the skin , it is also good for buffing mineral powder foundation or setting powder into the skin. Does not irritate the skin. Almost the shape of the Takumi 13 from Chikuhodo but just a tiny bit shorter in the bristles.
Houkodou Domed Foundation Brush BZ-1 Gold Customer Reviews
After seeing so many reviews about this brush, I decided to purchase it. It’ll be perfect for my liquid foundation. The brush has a nice short handle. The hairs are densely packed and are very soft. If you’re looking for an alternative to the discontinued Fu-pa brushes, the BZ-1 will be a good alternative.
I just found my holy grail travel foundation brush! Of course, I see myself reaching for this brush on a daily basis as well. I've seen so many reviewers actually use and reach for this brush during demos, that I had to check it out for myself. Out of my lengthy purchase, I was most shock with this brush! Surprisingly soft bristles, perfectly dense, blends like a dream (even for liquids/creams), the perfect size, doesn't shed. I'm so impressed with this brush that I'm looking into getting the angled foundation brush just to have a duo on the go! Highly recommend!
I prefer this Houkodou BZ-1 to Koyudo fu-pa14 CB (grey squirrel & goat). This brush is incredibly soft, no tugging at all! Whereas Koyudo fu-pa14 CB has some tugging, compared to this brush. I also own Koyudo fu-pa14 (grey squirrel & baby goat chest hair). I don't think the fu-pa14 can replace this BZ-1. They are distinguish brushes. If I can only choose one brush for foundation, I'll go with BZ-1. BZ-1 buffs very well, due to its sturdiness. Fu-pa14 also buffs well (and most naturally for stamping blush on the cheek), but BZ-1 is just more durable based on the hair difference.
First of all it’s a beautiful brush. I love the gold and copper colour combo. It feels just right in your hand. The bristles are really soft and it is fab for sweeping and buffing liquid foundation. It’s also does a good job of sweeping on powder and you can contour and bronze with this little brush. A great multitasker.
Very soft and densely packed! Apply liquid and cream foundation like a dream! I also use it for cream blusher and is addicted to it! Way softer than Koyudo Fupa 02. Highly recommend!
I love this brush! I love the size, shape and even the color. The photos don’t show how truly beautiful this brush is or how wonderfully soft the hairs are. I have been a huge fan of the Koyudo FuPa series for years and have collected quite a lot of them. Sadly most have been discontinued and hard to find. This brush is a fabulous replacement for the FuPa 14. The FuPa 14 is made with Grey Squirrel and this Houkudou is made with goat although I have to say just as soft! I’m happy I purchased the set of 3 because the angled foundation brush is perfect for not just foundation but any other cream products you want to use it with because of its smaller size. Priced very reasonable for the quality your getting. It’s funny. I never liked short handle brushes until I got my first Fu-Pa, now I can’t get enough.
Love this cute little brush fits my travel makeup case / the bristles are so enough for my mature face
I absolutely love this brush! So far I've only used it with liquid foundation, but it blends it out so beautifully and makes it look flawless. It's very soft and it literally takes about 20 seconds of blending in a circular motion and it's done! The brush head itself is small enough to give a precise application around the face but still big enough to not take a long time. I also love the handle of the brush and the design, but I think this comes down to personal preference. It's a somewhat stubby handle which I think it great as I can get close to the mirror, but some might prefer a longer one. I really do recommend this brush and I think it's a great price for the quality of hair, density of the bristles and ease of use. I also found it very easy to wash and dry if this helps!
I have bought dozens of brushes from CD Japan. This is my first disappointment. This brush has been shedding since I bought it and I have never had this problem with any of my other brushes. I have tried to use it several times with liquid foundation and I have to pick at least 5-6 hairs off my face each time. It also leaves streak marks. I just washed it last night and will try to use it with powder foundation and see if it is any better. For the price, I expected a better quality and versatility. Buy the Koyudo fupa foundation brush instead. Much better results.
This brush is soft, but dense enough to apply powder products. I don't use brushes to apply foundation, so I use this to apply blush and loose powder. It applies powder products without tugging on the skin. When light shines on it, the handle has a pretty metallic sheen to it. This is a short handle brush.
