Great brush, useful for every day makeup. Great for blush, bronzer, powders. Not the softest one but not scratchy either. I have this brush for about 8 years, it became little bit dry after washings but quality is incredible, my brush looks like the first time :) It's a great brush to have, my brush collection began from this brush line as well. If you want 1 brush for all face makeup, I would recommend this one to try.
T-4 Cheek Brush / Chikuhodo Takumi Series / Goat Saikoho Customer Reviews
Makeup Brush
Perfect size for the smaller face. picks and and lays down product very well. So soft on the eyes, a must have
At first I didn’t think I would like the brush, but after getting used to I realized, it applies blush beautifully. The brush is dense but soft and silky. Picks up a lot of product so be careful when applying buttery products for it will be intense. Multi use brush for blush, bronzer and the side tip for highlight.
I love all my Takumi brushes, this one has a very soft bristles which are packed medium-loosely, that is good for gentle application of blush or bronzer.
I really enjoy using this brush. Firstly it’s so soft especially when used with a light touch. It’s good for mature skin going through an oily sensitive phase. It’s a better size than the angled T-2 brush which is too large for my smaller face. I use this brush for travelling as it is a great multitasker. I can set my face and it is small enough and gentle enough to set under the eye, as well as apply bronzer and blush. It’s perfect for blending out cream products as well as picking up hard presses powders, although if I want a less pigmented look I just tap off product on a tissue and gently sweep on for a more diffused look.
Only good for less pigmented, hard pressed blush. I have soft pressed, pigmented blush, which doesn't work well with this brush. It's soft and dense, applies blush very precisely, blends well. I plan to get some less pigmented blush and use this brush.
This brush feels like I’m applying blush with a bunny tail! It’s so soft and springy! It’s fully round, which makes this excellent for buffing. It picks up the right amount of product with pressed products and picks up a ton of powder from baked blushes. It's my favorite size (medium to large after washing and air drying) for blush as well.
To me, this is an odd brush for the following reasons: although it is saikoho, its not as soft and silky as my other saikoho brushes (some of them cheaper in fact), the hairs can also feel a bit prickly during application, the goat hairs pick up more color so its best for less pigmented blush - perhaps I just have not mastered the use of this shape of brush and seem to feel more at home with a paddle shape.
T4 has a similar shape and softness as Koyomo blush, but T4 is a bit denser and shorter hair. If you are thinking one of them, consider your skin type. Choose T4 you're dry skin. It doesn't pick too much powder so you won't look "powdery". Vice versa.
I absolutely love this brush, round and fluffy like a cotton ball, although it's not dense as I expect. The hair is also softer than the other Takumi brushes that I have. I often use it for setting powder and blush. Highly recommended!
The brush is great, but I expected to like it a little more. To me, it's a little too soft to be used for blush. I think it would work a little better for applying powder. The hair is super soft the shape is great, but I wish it was a little denser.
I had this brush for a couple of months before it found a place in my every day makeup regime. However, once I discovered how great it was for directional application of blush, I started to use it daily. Now I am waiting to purchase several more brushes from the Takumi series -- I am likely to purchase brushes for the application of eye color since I prefer to use Canadian squirrel or gray squirrel for the application of foundation to get a more diffuse look. The price is incredible for the quality of brush you receive. The design is very clean and modern, and you only have to touch the brush hair very lightly to the makeup to get a deep, nuanced application of blush. I recommend this for any beginner, as well as advanced users like me. Everyone should have at least one Takumi brush to make their collection complete. It's an exceptionally good deal for a superbly designed, high quality goat hair brush.
The Takumi series is Chikuhodo's premium saikoho hair variety of goat bristle brushes. I bought them mainly for cream products as goat hair is generally more robust than squirrel hair. Hence, they are the very best quality of brushes you can get (sokoho, the creme de la creme of goat brushes cost a lot more) for a (still) affordable price. In my opinion, the brush does a good job of diffusely applying a cream blush or other cream product and due to its build quality, it gives more resistance than squirrel haired brushes which makes it ideal for buffing motions. The round head of the brush is ideal for circular motions for blush placement on the cheek. Highly recommend!
This brush is great for applying blush and powder. The hairs are quite densely packed, which is nice for buffing products into the skin. The small size of the brush makes it easy to set powder on certain areas of the face. I use it to set my foundation with translucent powder and it gives a really light, natural finish.
I use this brush for both, blush and powder. The bristles are not too soft and pack on color very well, so be careful if you want to apply highly pigmented products. It is perfect for applying blush directly to the apples of the cheeks and you can blend out with it, too. Great find!
These brushes are super soft for goat hair, its round, fluffy and pretty lightweight. It definitely gets softer after the first wash and being medium density, it picks up and applies powders (blush) beautifully as it blends well and provides the ideal amount of coverage.
I guess it's the highest quality goat hair on the market. The brush will get more fluffy after the first wash. Lately i love it for setting and mattifying powders. If you are not a big fan of huge brushes you may start using it the same way. It still works well for blush and any blending work on the face.
If you are looking for the softest goat hair and rounded shape blush brush good enough to also apply bronzer and setting face powder, this is a great option. I wish handle was longer and heavier, but i love the design and that my finger prints will not be so visable in the handle of the brush.
My opinion of this brush may be quite biased as the brush head just happens to be my favorite blush brush shape. The hair is soft enough to please even those with sensitive skin who can normally only tolerate gray/red squirrel hair. I find this brush to be very versatile. It is dense enough to blend powder/cream blush beautifully but not too dense that it can not deliver a sheer layer of powder should you choose it for that purpose. The size of this brush is perfect for targeted application. One thing I've noticed is the handles of the Takumi Series brushes tend to be lighter than comparable brushes from Chikuhodo's other ranges (perhaps due to the lack of a metal ferrule?). The handle is not flimsy by any means and as a matter of fact I prefer the matte black look with red lettering and enjoy the balance it provides in use.
Most important thing about this brush is do not be fooled by the picture where the brush head is compacted for travel and shipping. After you wash it, it becomes flared to almost twice the width that you see in the picture with a very gently domed head. The shape is excellent for applying blush, bronzer and face powder to target areas. The top is slightly flattened so it's not as good for target application like highlight. The hairs are very soft for goat. Because it is goat, this brush has better snap than squirrel so you can really blend and polish without sacrificing comfort. The brush is of medium density at the ferrule, but because it flares so much, it feels like an airy cushion at the tips. It will work with all kinds of powders but it is not stiff enough for my taste to use with cream products.
