If you have finished Genki I, then this is the next book. It builds upon your knowledge from Genki I, uses the same formula which is good for consistency. However, there's a new edition this series with improved explanation and wordings. So get that if you can. I only bought this book because I unknowingly bought the old edition of Genki I with the new edition being out. That being said, I'll move from this book to N4 Shin Kanzen books.

This is a great book for beginners to learn Japanese essential grammars. I found it really helpful. Each section is separated into lessons with different vocabulary and grammar. Plus the CD is really useful to follow along.
