Fantastic work from a really wonderful trio - a group with a sense of space and scope that's completely sublime! Here Masabumi Kikuchi really has this special energy next to the basswork of Gary Peacock - a player who somehow always feels a bit different when he's in a Japanese setting than a more familiar one - a perfect match for the percussion of Masahiko Togashi, who is maybe the freest player on the record at times - and working with that very open, sensitive way he has of handling a drum kit! The recording quality is amazing - all the different elements both separate and together at once - and the whole thing is a real lost treasure from the time, superbly recorded and done with a very timeless quality.

The astonishing sound recorded at HQ-DAT high-sampling 96kHz has been remastered, offering an immersive experience of vivid performances and audio. This highly anticipated release for jazz and audiophile fans separates the studio recording and the live recording at Pit Inn into two single-layer SACDs. This CD was originally planned as part of a promotional campaign for Pioneer Corporation's "HS-DAT Player," a product that supported 96kHz high-sampling frequency recording, enabling superior-quality recording and playback compared to the standard 48kHz sampling of typical DAT players. For the SACD release, the original master, recorded with HS-DAT and carefully preserved after being transferred to HDD, was re-imported in DSD format and remastered at King Sekiguchidai Studio. The result is an SACD in a single-layer format, well-known for its outstanding audio quality. Notably, the Pit Inn live album contains the entire performance of the day (approximately 140 minutes) on a single SACD using DST compression.

菊地雅章-ゲイリー・.ピーコック-富樫雅彦3人が22年振りに再会した1994年のスタジオ録音が音質に定評のあるシングルレイヤーSACDとして登場。HQ-DATハイサンプリング96kHzで録音された驚異のサウンドを再マスタリング。生々しい演奏とサウンドが楽しめるジャズファン、オーディオファン待望の企画商品。今回の作品はスタジオ録音とピットインでのライブ録音を2作のSACD (シングルレイヤー)に分けて発売。本作は銀座"音響ハウス"でのスタジオ録音の作品。惜しくもすでに全員が鬼籍に入ってしまったが、3人の絶頂時の全貌を聴くことができるファン待望の作品。オリジナルリリースは1994年に「Aeolus」レーベルからの発売。オーディオメーカーのパイオニア社が当時発売していた「HS-DATプレーヤー」の販売促進の一環として企画されたCD。通常のDATプレーヤーのサンプリング周波数は48kHzだが、HS-DATは倍速の96kHzのサンプリング周波数で録音可能で高音質での収録、再生を実現している。レコーディングエンジニアは一発どりで有名な及川公生氏。サウンド品質が非常に高く当時のオーディオファンにも話題になった作品。今回のSACD化にあたり、HS-DATで録音されHDDにトランスファーして大切に保存されていたオリジナル音源マスターをキング関口台スタジオで新たにDSDフォーマットで取り込み、最新リマスタリングを経て音質の良さでは定評のあるシングルレイヤーフォーマットでSACD化したもの。特にピットインのライブ盤はその日の演奏の全曲 (約140分)がDST圧縮のフォーマットで1枚のSACDに収められている。CDで評判になった素晴らしい演奏とサウンドに更に磨きがかかり臨場感が増し生々しい音質で甦った。本作"音響ハウス"でのスタジオ録音盤はゲイリー・ピーコックの感動的なベースソロ、菊地のピアノソロ演奏の2曲を1994年のオリジナル作品に追加収録。「Summertime」や「My Favorite Things」「Begin The Beguine」等、お馴染みのスタンダード曲もたっぷりと収録、富樫作曲の「Waltz Step」や菊地作曲の「Little Abi」の人気曲等、聴きどころが満載。Nadja21レーベル主宰者の稲岡邦彌氏と悠雅彦氏の解説付き。
