Even for a legendary band like The Who, it seems natural that rare early tracks and mixes would eventually be included in official box sets or compilations. However, many such mixes remain absent from these releases - something only dedicated collectors may be aware of. In fact, due to conflicts with early producer Shel Talmy and subsequent rights issues and re-recordings, several songs have yet to be properly traced back to their official original masters. This collection takes a deep dive into that very issue. Through exhaustive research and tracking of original masters, the tracks have been carefully reconstructed from mono master sources. The result is a meticulously curated archive of original master recordings of early singles. Included is a detailed Japanese liner note that covers the historical context, anecdotes, and complete track listing. Released by Eternal Grooves in a DVD-sized digipak 2CD format.
