Mysterious Flight

21世紀のプログレッシブ・ポップ・マエストロ、Koochewsen。思えば、ビートルズを始め、各時代に登場してきた”進化するロックンロール”としての”ポップ”の巨人たちは、その時代その時代に対応したフレッシュネスと或る種の定型の中で新しい時代の”ポップ”を「発明」してきた。2020年6月17日(水)、Koochewsenがリリースする2ndフルアルバム『Mysterious Flight』で彼らは新たなる発明をものにした。それは【KoochewsenのJ-POP】という発明だ。20歳そこそこで、10分を越える本格的な自作のプログレッシブロックを奏でていた彼らが、今日から明日に向かうポップを追求する旅に出掛け、4枚のミニアルバムと1枚のフルアルバムを形にしたが、もしかしてこれらは今作品を生むためのとてもミステリアスなフライトだったのかも知れない。この長く曲がりくねった飛行の果てに彼らがものにしたポップは、正真正銘のKoochewsenのジャパニーズポップだ。ここにはプログレッシブなJ-POPも、J-POPなプログレッシブロックもある。こんなにも強靭で甘美でロックなJ-POPを僕は知らない。Sweet,mellow and mysteriousなプログレッシブ・ポップ・マエストロ、Koochewsenは今ここにいる。(PTA/渡邊文武)
