Kenta forgets why he plays the piano when he is laid off from his job in the orchestra. After a night drinking off this tragedy he wakes in a mysterious room surrounded by books, a peculiar bookstore named "Tengoku no Honya" (Heaven's Bookstore) run by a strange man in a Hawaiian shirt named Yamaki. Kenta doesn't think he's dead, but he does decide to take up a part-time job there for the time being. It is there that he meets a deceased young pianist by the name of Shoko.
