The sequel to the New Super Mario Brothers for DS. This game focus on gathering and collecting coins. The gameplay works like a standard Mario Brothers platformer. Peach is kidnapped, by Koopa (Bowser) and his kids. It is up to Mario and Luigi to get her back by progressing through the courses of six initial worlds, and three unlockable ones. Each course has a significant amount of coins that are to be collected. New power-ups help you get the highest score possible in each course, the gold fire flower, and the golden mushroom. The GFlower allows Mario to throw gold fireballs. These turn blocks and enemies into coins. GMushrooms just give additional coins. The real play value of the comes from the game's Coin Rush feature. Progress through story mode to unlock additional courses. Each "Pack" contains three courses. The goal is to collect all the coins and reach the goal before time runs out. You only get 100 seconds so it's a challenge. After you successfully clear the three course you will receive an overall score. The StreetPass feature is utilized by the Coin Rush. This is done by swapping data with other players and then challenging their data to best their score. Each time you beat a players score you obtain a medal. How many medals can you collect? You can save and upload only one Rush at a time. Nintendo has also included the option to purchase downloadable content. Each Rush Pack you purchase is a set of three original, highly varied, courses. These packs to me are the bulk of the game. Definitely worth the price, 200 yen each. I have spent many hours on this game trying to beat my own high scores in the story mode as well as the coin rush packs. The issue I have had is with the StreetPass feature. Most people I swapped data with played the same packs, ones that are included in the game fore free, so I played through the same rush packs over and over. Since this game centers around coin gather and Coin Rush I give this game a 4 / 5. Very fun and a good Mario game but like I said, multiple times, the game focus solely on gathering coins and the StreetPass features is what everyone makes of it, or feels like spending on it.
