Hot battles transcend time as the high-mobility robot shooting assault returns. One of Jaleco's signature titles, "Formation Z," is reborn in the modern era as a full remake with renewed graphics and sound, retaining the gameplay and controls that switch between humanoid robot and fighter forms while adding new weapons and actions. Now, the thrilling battle formation rises again. This is an action shooting game with free-form transformation that runs across land and cuts through the sky, allowing the player unit to transform in real time on the ground or in the air as long as remaining energy lasts, choosing between a robot form that dominates the ground with close combat and precision fire or a fighter form that slices through the battlefield with overwhelming speed, racing freely through vast stages to forge unique routes. Aircraft performance can be customized through module installation by using points earned in missions to unlock new units and customization elements and enhance weapon power with modules equipped in four slots, whether eliminating weaknesses through balanced builds or pushing specific performance to the extreme, with additional enjoyment from swapping body parts, changing colors, and decorating with decals. Players can challenge their personal limits in score attack mode, unlocked for cleared stages and playable by stage with high scores recorded individually, aiming to surpass previous records with a finely tuned favorite unit. A robust archive records the trajectory of battle, including war records accumulating total enemy defeats and sortie counts by unit, enemy data registering defeated foes, and a gallery unlocking artwork upon meeting conditions. The limited edition includes three deluxe items: a plastic kit "1/250 ABX-01 Ixpel 1 Innocence," recreating the main unit as an approximately 76mm-long kit color-separated in base colors that can be completed by assembly and decals with optional parts including one beam gun and two beam knives and an included action base for dynamic poses / a sound source download code "FZ: Formation Z ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK" featuring 13 tracks composed by Daisuke Matsumoto / an early download code for the additional unit "R-9Aix Extra Arrow," a collaboration with the "R-TYPE" main unit "R-9," transforming into a robot and joining the battle alongside the all-purpose Force weapon with two additional dress decals usable in-game (system requirements unknown). This DLC is identical to content planned for separate sale on each platform after the game release date at a time yet to be determined. [CERO age rating: for all ages]
