So, Takashi Miike pays a homage to Spaghetti Westerns, and directs a western movie, and "Sukiyaki Western" it is. It also takes a lot of obvious inspirations from Akira Kurosawa's "Yojimbo" and the basic situation of the story is similar. A town is divided in half between feuding thugs perpetually keeping each other under scrutiny, ready to strike a furious blow if given an opportunity, and a stranger stumbles into the middle of it. There are lots of violence that are gruesome and comical at the same time, because of so much pronounced display of cowardice and selfishness. If you are into Takashi Miike, if what I've said so far made you curious, or if you're simply looking for something that's different, then I recommend you to watch this movie. However, what really fascinated me, and made me really sympathize with characters in the movie was the appearance of a mighty fine lady that drives lots of men crazy. The role is played by Yoshino Kimura, and I thoroughly agreed when someone in the movie said that she is a "mighty fine lady."
