Shinya joined LUNACY - the predecessor band to LUNA SEA, originally formed in 1986 by J and INORAN - in 1989, alongside fellow new members SUGIZO and RYUICHI. After evolving into LUNA SEA, the band made their major debut on May 21, 1992, with the album IMAGE on MCA Victor. It is worth noting that the band had previously released an independent debut album, LUNA SEA, in April 1991 through Extasy Records, marking their earliest recorded work.

The band went on to release a series of influential works, including the single ROSIER and the album MOTHER - both in 1994 - establishing themselves as one of the defining acts of the 1990s Japanese rock scene. Through large-scale tours and landmark live performances at venues such as the Tokyo Dome and Nippon Budokan, LUNA SEA cultivated a devoted fanbase in Japan and beyond, their music shaping generations of artists within the visual-kei and rock communities.

Even decades after their debut, the band continued releasing albums and performing live, demonstrating an enduring presence that few of their peers could match. As the band's official statement movingly expressed, "The beat of his soul, which he drummed for over 35 years, and his deep love for music, will never cease to sound."

Shinya's powerful drumming, stage presence, and lifelong dedication to the band remain an essential part of LUNA SEA's history. The works he helped create continue to resonate with fans around the world, preserving his legacy through sound and memory.
