Toho has outdone themselves with this first 4K release of a classic Godzilla film! This is by far the best home video release of King Kong vs. Godzilla! The 4K is crisp without getting rid of all the grain and the 1080p version of the new master is also included. It would have been neat to see Toho do an HDR pass, but I am happy to have this beautiful new restoration regardless. Some of the other features on the 1080p disc are the Toho Champion Festival edit of the film and numerous trailers. The box comes with a photobook focused on the monster stars and sets, as well as a manga of the events of the film. The box itself feels sturdy and features graphically pleasing red and black face shots of the titular monsters. All in all a very deluxe release to commemorate this film. Now let's hope Toho releases 4K discs of the restorations they have announced for the other films including the original Godzilla, Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster, and Godzilla vs. Biollante! Maybe Toho will eventually release 4K discs for all the classic Godzilla films! Pretty please!?
