Lupin III, the Series (1971)

The gag-filled anime show centers on the third generation Lupin, aka the great grandson of the legendary thief Arsene Lupin. Other colorful characters include: Daisuke Jigen a quick shooter, 13th generation thief Goemon Ishikawa, and a mysterious beauty named Fujiko Mine who are all part of a hilarious group of thieves bound together only by their own interests. They are chased around the globe by Zenigata Keibu (Lieutenant Zenigata) whose life seems to be dedicated to chase (but not really capture?) these bandits. Messrs. Miyazaki and Takahata started directing/supervising the show from the 7th episode on which boosted the series' popularity immediately.
