19年ぶり、9枚目のオリジナルアルバムが遂に発売! アルバムタイトル『9999』(読み: フォーナイン)は、2001年の活動休止、2004年の解散、そして2016年の再集結を経て、良いことも悪いことも4人で乗り越えてきた今、最新形のTHE YELLOW MONKEYとして作り上げた作品であり、9999は4桁最大数、4人の最大限をという意味も込められている。バンドとして初となるLAでのレコーディングが決行され、19年ぶりの奇跡の名盤が誕生したと言っても過言ではない。今作品は、2016年の再集結時以降に発表してきた『ALRIGHT』『ロザーナ』、シングル「砂の塔」(TBS系金曜ドラマ『砂の塔～知りすぎた隣人』主題歌)、デジタル配信された「Stars」「Horizon」(映画『オトトキ』主題歌/"FINAL FANTASY XV"2 Year Anniversaryテーマソング)、「転道虫」(テレビ東京『天 天和通りの快男児』主題歌)を収録した、まさに再集結ベストとも言える。そして、新曲「I don't know」は1月クールのテレビ朝日系列 木曜ドラマ『刑事ゼロ』主題歌にも抜擢! 紙ジャケット仕様。
