Ike Turner's 1969 album was called "a treasure trove of truly rare grooves" by the disc guide "RARE GROOVE A to Z". Hip-hop freaks will recognize the mid-funk "Getting Nasty" as a Jurassic 5 "Concrete Schoolyard" reference, the Afro-funk groove "Thinking Black" with its rudimentary charm, and the Marquee's stax masterpiece "The Stax" from the pen of Rufus Thomas.
