2018年は全国ツアー (33本)に、夏フェス出演、シングル3枚発売と6月のソロ本格再始動から怒涛の快進撃を進めてきた、HYDE。そんなHYDEが、年初からソロ再始動後4枚目のシングルをリリースすることが決定。今作のタイトルは「ZIPANG」。日本をイメージして制作された今作、昔、世界から見た素敵な日本はいまでも素敵なのだろうか? 日本人が忘れてはいけない想いを込めた珠玉のバラードに仕上がった。レコーディングにはX JAPANのYOSHIKIをピアニストとして招き、「Red Swan」での強力タッグが今作でも実現。MVは京都の東寺で撮影を行い、日出づる国ジパングの世界観を表現。カップリングにはHYDE LIVEのアンコール曲として演奏されていたDuran Duranの「ORDINARY WORLD」を収録。初回限定盤Aは、撮り下ろしコンセプトブック: 12ページ付き。EPサイズ (7インチ四方)。

Between the gilded leaves and the huge postcard of Toji Temple in Kyoto, HYDE with his soft voice goes back to the ancient ''ZIPANG'' (transliterated name given to Japan, by Chinese and Europeans during the Late Middle Age), showing us the existing cultural richness. The melody, unlike the previous singles, is slow and calm; accompanied by the great collaboration of YOSHIKI. A sublime song, dedicated to those who wish to travel the country of the rising sun and theirs wonderful landscapes just closing the eyes. Of the previous releases, this is my favorite. A piece of art!
