This is better than the remaster cd. The 5 stars is for the SHM bettering the cd version and for the music. Aja has always sounded a bit withdrawn and a little flat, and does not sound anywhere near as good as Gautcho(ditto for the music). But this delivers what I bought it for-it betters the cd version, and is the best didgital Aja on the marked.

I really was in two minds about this release. Some reviews were sceptical and the price was almost prohibitive for me. However, I'm glad I took the plunge. This really does sound great, particularly compared to the 1999 remastered version. OK, so it is a little bright and a little loud, but the dynamics and 'air' around the instruments make this a very rewarding listen. Also Fagen's voice, which is pretty nasel at the best of times,sounds great! Definitely recommend this release if you can stomach the cost. Oh, and the packaging, in true Japanese style, is absolutely gorgeous.
