Actually i love the Idlewild South part of this release. That part sounds incredible. The first half of this release is ABB's 1st album and it does not sound as good as Idlewild South. In comparison the mix is a little thin sounding. But that original album has always sounded like that. Which is a shame 'cause musically it's a phenominal album and debut. The band originally wanted Tom Dowd to engineer the album but for some reason he was unavailable at the time so the band had to use a studio hired engineer which the band never really got on with so they just hurriedly recorded it and got back on the road. Gregg has said that they never really liked the mix on the first album. But like i said musically it's a masterpiece, i love it nonetheless. Now onto the Idlewild South album, this sounds AMAZING, like a breath of fresh air!!! From the opening of Revival to the end of Leave My Blues Alone it's beautiful. This one Tom Dowd mixed and he did a wonderful job. You can crank it up and just sounds better and better. Mini LP is fantastic , nice thick cardboard stock! I highly recommend this, fantastic release....the early Allman Brothers albums are essential to anyone's collection!
