[JAZZPLUS シリーズ] 60年代のジャズのレア盤を、一枚にコンパイル! ■「カレイドスコープ」: モダン・クラリネットの筆頭格であるバディ・デフランコは、60年代前半にアコーディオン奏者のトミー・グミナとのグループで、マーキュリーに5枚のアルバムを録音した。その第3弾となる本作は、過去2作と同じ路線で、ピアノレス・クァルテットがスタンダード・ナンバーをプレイ。珍しい組み合わせのチームによる軽快なサウンドが楽しめる。 ■「ポリトーンズ」: モダン・クラリネットの名手と呼ばれるバディ・デフランコは、ジャズ・アコーディオンの草分け的存在であるトミー・グミナとチームを組んで、60年代前半に5枚のアルバムを制作。ピアノレス・クァルテットで、スタンダード・ナンバーを素材に、2人の技巧が冴える。アルバム名は後年グミナが開発するシンセサイザー・アコーディオンを示唆。
